Looking Ahead: Industry Trends for 2023 and Beyond

With 2023 off the starter blocks, here at PRIME Journal, we found ourselves contemplating what the next 12 months will bring to the aesthetic medicine industry. How will the industry cope with an impending recession? What other headwinds does the industry face, and what are the trends that will emerge as the year unfolds? These were the questions we put to aesthetic and dermatology industry leaders for our feature on industry trends for 2023 and beyond.

From the feedback we received from physicians and industry experts, it seems wellness will be a key driver among patient groups over the next 12–18 months. Patients no longer want to just look good; they want to feel good, too — and the feature details exactly why aesthetic physicians are ideally placed to deliver on this feeling.

While fillers and toxins remain popular, the industry continues to innovate. While Covid shut down many practices, scientific research and product development continued. The fruits of which are now coming to market, such as new acne treatments for the US market.

The feature on aesthetic trends will also look at future risks for the industry and how well practices can stand up against a downturn in the economy.
